McMissile Mom Gets Probation

This story is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. It pisses me off in so many ways.
A little background in brief. Mother of three in rush hour traffic, she gets cut off by a car, pulls up next to the car in the breakdown lane, and launches a cup full of ice at the other car. The cup flies into the car and goes all over the occupants. The state law defines anything launched (or thrown into a moving or occupied vehicle as a missile.) The MINIMUM sentence for this charge is a felony conviction and 2 years in jail. Which in a jury trial she was convicted and given the minimum.

Don't get me wrong, I myself have been the victim of having a little road rage, and would love to do this to someone who pissed me off. However, I do also know two wrongs don't make a right.

So, then the media gets wind of the story. They play it up to be some huge sob story about how she is alone raising her three kids, and the father is off fighting the war in Iraq on his third tour. I have a lot of respect for single mothers (even though she's not single, at the moment she's raising her kids as if she were) and I have even more respect for her husband who is fighting for our county. What I don't like is the fact they are using these issues to play it up and act like the state is a monster for convicting her. The fact that she has three kids, and her husband is in Iraq should have NO BEARING ON THIS WHAT SO EVER. If nothing else they should have put MORE time over her head because she did this in the company of her children. That teaches them poor values, and will turn them into screwed up adults with no sense of decency or morals.

So now due to all the "poor me" whining and bitching, with help from the media of course. She gets her sentence reduced to probation. The story didn't say if she still gets a felony charge on her record, at least I didn't see it if it did. For the love of god I certainly hope they at least did that.

This is just another one of my hot buttons. Someone does something wrong, and whines and bitches about it, and gets let off the hook. Not to mention it hits an even bigger hot button of mine about her kids. Now this teaches them if you get in trouble, bitch about how hard your life is, and you can get off the hook. Its bad enough that people take little to no responsibility for their children this day and age as it is. I do sincerely applaud parents who take the time out to spank their children when they misbehave. Maybe we wouldn't have so many screwed up adults in this world if they were taught that there are consequences for their actions.
